Launch Prep & Mutation Packs
With less than 3 weeks until our Kickstarter launch of May 9th, the campaign is settling into place. The open beta is proceeding nicely, giving us a task list of 140+ adjustments and tweaks (so far!) to consider as we keep improving the final product.
Physical beta kits are also winding their way through a few content creators, and we’re excited for them to share their thoughts about the new and improved version of the game. Speaking of: it looks and feels fantastic on the table.
Announcing Mutation Packs
We’re excited to announce the Leviathan Wilds Mutation Pack as a free offering to backers who join our newsletter!
The Mutation Pack adds immense variety and replayability to your core game with 15 unique mutation sets. Using a mix of cards, special rules, and tokens, a mutation set alters your chosen leviathan scenario, causing it to exhibit characteristics of a different leviathan (or the doubling-down on the same one). This results in a total of 255 leviathan + mutation combinations.
Thus, if you ever wondered what it might be like for the Collector to sprout a few Watcher eyes, then look no further! If you thought dodging the lightning of the Storm was a breeze, why not add the Weaver’s webbing to the mix? And since everybody loves a good escort mission, bring the baby jellyfish (ephyra) of the Bloom along for the ride on the Twins.
How Do I Get it?
The Mutation Pack will be given for free to backers at the Core Game pledge level who subscribe to the Leviathan Wilds newsletter. Make sure to use the same email for Kickstarter, pledge management, and the newsletter to ensure success!
If you’re worried about whether or not you will be on the list, fear not! We intend to offer multiple opportunities to sign up and/or confirm your presence on the mailing list during the campaign and pledge management phases. We want to make this a simple process and ensure that our supporters who want it can get it.
What If I don’t like Newsletters?
We understand being on a mailing list can be unpalatable, however…
They are essential for tiny, independent businesses like Moon Crab Games.
Our newsletters are succinct and infrequent. During the Kickstarter you’ll likely see an uptick, but we aim to avoid being annoying.
You can always unsubscribe later. Obviously we’d prefer to keep you around (see “essential for tiny, independent businesses” above), but we totally get it.
It’s possible that we’ll offer the Mutation Pack as a purchasable webstore item someday. We can’t promise a timeframe, as there’s a whole lot that would need to happen first.
